Concept

In MY LIVING ROOM Franz Wassermann mobilizes TV viewers as a collective that is connected through the consummation of the same movies, series, advertisements et cetera. The artist takes a photograph of his own television to record the program in the form of a number of single frames. From these single frames Wassermann produces two photo prints. In the following, he mails the first photo prints to people whose addresses have been chosen by chance; the second photo prints are put up for sale in fake living rooms in e.g. galleries or furniture stores. Both photo prints carry an URL and a number that enable owners of the same photograph to meet online and chat. Furthermore, all photo prints are tagged with two dates: 20.04.99 and 30.04.99. Here, Wassermann alludes to the birthday and death-day of Adolf Hitler who gifted on of the first televisions made in Germany to his girlfriend Eva Braun.
