For MADE IN AUSTRIA Franz Wassermann uses a white undershirt of the brand Palmers that is covered with bloody sputum. The stains were made by the artist himself who was surprised by a late childhood disease. After his recovery Wassermann wears this shirt while posing for a series of photographs. He combines the undershirt with a black pin-striped suit to make the bloody stains appear to be a pattern. This deception reappears in solo show of Franz Wassermann at gallery 5020 where he uses the bloody stains as the key motive of a wallpaper.
