ANARCHY / flags is a sculpture composed of a series of flags which are connected to the aesthetics of National Socialism by their design (red background, white circle in the center). In the historic version, one would find the Hakenkreuz in the center of the flag. By contrast, Franz Wassermann shows the names of powerful brands on this spot: google, Ikea, Monsanto et cetera. Even Franz Wassermann´s own name is presented on one of the flags. In the photomontage ANARCHY / Ministry of Aviation Berlin Franz Wassermann stages the presentation of ANARCHY / flags at the house front of the former Ministry of Aviation in Berlin. The aesthetics of his flags connect with the national socialist background of the building. This seemingly historic image is linked to the present by the name of currently powerful brands that are shown in the center of Wassermann´s flags.
