TEMPORARY MONUMENT – Acts of Remembrance
first published in 2007, expanded republication in 2009

In course of the five-phase art project TEMPORARY MONUMENT – Acts of Remembrance Franz Wassermann creates a living monument for the patients of the psychiatric hospital in Hall in Tyrol who have been killed during national socialistic euthanasia. In process 1 Giving Streets Names Wassermann asks the local governments of the victims to name on street after the victim. In process 5 The Living Archive the artist collects personal objects and stories of and about the victims. The catalogue presents all five phases of the art project and shows the constant growth of the living monument. Consequently, the republication of the catalogue displays updated lists of victims as well as the written replies of the mayors who have been answering to Wassermann´s call during Giving Streets Names.
